Two Quartets for Oboe and Strings
Charming works of moderate difficulty.
Less well-known than his sister-in-law, the famous singer Elizabeth Billington, there is considerable uncertainty regarding Thomas Billington’s life, e.g. Did he die in Tunis or in Tours?, possibly well before 1832? The date of these quartets is uncertain, but most of his chamber music activity appears to have been undertaken early in his life, making a date in the 1780s-90s probable.
